Keto Coffee

I get asked all the time about keto coffee (bulletproof coffee, mct coffee, butter coffee etc). Why is it so good for you? How do you make it? Do I eat before or after? HELP!

Originally, it is coffee plus grass fed butter and MCT oil. (No, it can’t be regular butter, it has to be grass fed because it contains more vitamins and healthy fats than regular butter.

Keto coffee will benefit you when you drink it by stabilizing blood sugar levels, rather than having coffee with milk and sugar, that spike blood sugar levels. Plus, it will give you a boost of energy because MCT/Coconut oil is a quick source of fuel for the body. You’ll feel the energy of the coffee but without the jitters or a crash later.

Why keto? Keto or ketogenic diet is a high fat, low carbohydrate diet. The goal when people are on this diet is to get your body into the state of ketosis. This is when your body is using the fats that you are eating as fuel. Ketones are a feul from fat (the alternative fuel is glucose, which we get from carbohydrates).

Coconut oil is one of the best source of MCT (or medium chain triglycerides). its about 62-65% MCT. MCT provide the body with energy that is easily absorbed and used for energy, rather than stored as fat in the body. I prefer using coconut oil in my coffee because of the adiditional health benefits of coconut oil (immune support, antibacterial etc). But if your goal is weight loss or lasting energy, try MCT first!

MY FAVOURITE RECIPE:

1 cup organic coffee

1 tbsp coconut oil

1 scoop collagen

1 tbsp grass-fed butter

a sprinkle of cinnamon

optional add-ons: cacao, vanilla, stevia

Add all ingredients to blender and blend until all ingredients combined.
