My Top 10 Tips to Cure a Hangover



Summer is full of fun weekends spending time with friends, going on vacation and relaxing. With that, comes awesome summer drinks (..and sometimes a tough next morning after a few too many drinks). I made a list of my top 10 tips to help improve your hangovers.

DRINK WATER. Like so obvious, ya. But it’s important to flush out toxins and because alcohol dehydrates, the more water you drink the better you’ll feel. Drink water before drinking alcohol, between drinks plus before you go to sleep! ​


EAT BREAKFAST. I know, so easy and you want it! (The healthier the food, the better - even though people don’t feel like healthy foods when hungover). Helps improve hangover symptoms and balances blood sugar. You’ll feel better, I guarantee.

KOMBUCHA. My personal fave to help when you’re feeling sick and nauseous. Also helps to improve gut bacteria and make more vitamins in your body (so there’s so many more health benefits included)

ELECTROLYTES. Most people reach for a Gatorade, but there are lots of healthy alternatives, such as natural coconut water or Nuun electrolyte tabs. These electrolytes will help replenish what was lost after a night of drinks


PEPPERMINT OIL. Peppermint oil applied topically can help to reduce headaches and will help you wake up. It’s a really good thing to do if you have activities the next day.

COFFEE. Coffee is awesome to help wake up and get going, but it can actually lead to more dehydration and worsen the hangover, so just make sure that you hydrate first, then drink coffee!

VITAMIN B & C. These vitamins (along with lots of others) are flushed out of your body when drinking, so replenishing these vitamins can help you feel better quick.

EXERCISE. I know, I know. The last thing you want to do is go crazy at the gym or spin after drinking a ton the night before. But try going for a walk (even if it is just walking to go get more food!). It’s good to move your body, get blood flowing and especially get fresh air. Sweating will also help flush toxins out of the body.


SLEEP. Yessss! It helps you rest, feel better and you’ll recover faster. Also, it’s easy and you don’t have to feel like crap all day.

MILK THISTLE. Milk thistle helps to support and cleanse the liver. The liver helps to get rid of toxins and break down alcohol in the body. It’s an antioxidant, is anti-inflammatory and helps to heal the liver.
